Open-source electronics platform for prototyping sensors, embedded systems, and IoT devices — the foundation for our hardware and environmental monitoring work.
Overview
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform that combines easy-to-use hardware and software. At EngineerChi, we use Arduino as the foundation for prototyping environmental sensors, IoT systems, and embedded hardware — from air quality monitors to water-level detection. We use Arduino to build low-cost, accessible hardware that can feed data into dashboards, APIs, and community-facing reporting tools.
Our hardware work is in active development, with prototyping underway for environmental monitoring systems designed for underserved Chicago neighborhoods. Arduino makes it possible to build and iterate quickly on sensor hardware before integrating it into larger software systems.
